Miranda Lambert’s ‘Platinum’ Wins 2015 Grammy for Best Country Album

As many pundits and fans expected, Miranda Lambert’s Platinum album wins the 2015 Grammy for Best Country Album. This is Lambert’s second ever Grammy and her first in this category, after losing two previous times. Her first Grammy win was the 2011 Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “The House That Built Me.” Platinum beat out Brandy Clark’s 12 Stories, Dierks Bentley’s Riser, Eric Church’s The Outsiders and Lee Ann Womack’s The Way I’m Livin’.

I was disappointed Womack didn’t win, as I felt her album was one of the most important country albums of 2014. It was not only a great comeback, but a shining example of what kind of album all female country artists should strive to make. Nevertheless, I’m glad Miranda won and not some bro country hack. None of these nominations were bad, however Trigger at Saving Country Music made the best comment about these nominations:

Just a fact to keep in mind. Maybe next year Sturgill will get nominated in the right category.

What do you think of Lambert winning? Do you agree or disagree? Who would you have picked to win?
