One of the most successful groups in country music history may be releasing new music soon. At the very least some sort of announcement is on the horizon. Dixie Chicks have fans and critics everywhere speculating and wondering what’s next for the group, as today they shared via their social media channels a new image:
This is all that was shared and all that really needed to be shared to get people interested and excited. This could be hinting at a brand new album, which would be their first album of original music since their 2006 album Taking The Long Way. This could also be the first signs of them announcing a North America tour in 2016, which has been highly speculated since their European tour took place this year. Regardless of what it is, this certainly is eye-catching.
While one of the most talented groups in country music history, they’re also of course one of the most polarizing. The genre essentially black balled the Dixie Chicks in 2003 after they made disparaging remarks about the war in Afghanistan and President George W. Bush. It came at a time when they were one of the biggest acts in all of music. With 12 years now passed, it begs the question of whether or not the majority of country music is willing to take them back. Regardless of they want to or not, they still have a very dedicated and large following who will support them and I think many critics such as myself are more than willing to hear new music from this talented trio. When more details emerge I’ll be sure to update this post.
Update: November 16
The teaser indeed indicated the announcement of a North American tour in the summer of 2016. Here’s the announcement from the group themselves:
