Great Music Currently at Country Radio [January 20]

The very best of country radio right here in a nice playlist. In order for a song to be added to the list, it must currently be in the top 60 of the Billboard Country Airplay chart, so this will be updated weekly. Normally this feature is part of The Hodgepodge, but I’ve decided to make this a weekly standalone post. Here’s where all the songs currently stand on the chart:

6. Jana Kramer – “I Got The Boy”

15. Eric Church – “Mr. Misunderstood”

21. Chris Stapleton – “Nobody To Blame”

28. Maddie & Tae – “Shut Up and Fish”

29. Jon Pardi – “Head Over Boots”

31. Frankie Ballard – “It All Started With A Beer”

32. Maren Morris – “My Church”

36. Justin Moore – “You Look Like I Need A Drink”

37. Kip Moore – “Running For You”

39. William Michael Morgan – “I Met A Girl”

47. Big & Rich (feat. Tim McGraw) – “Lovin’ Lately”

51. Charles Kelley (feat. Dierks Bentley & Eric Paslay) – “The Driver”

54. Love & Theft – “Whiskey on My Breath”

55. Toby Keith – “Beautiful Stranger”

58. Jennifer Nettles – “Unlove You” [New]

59. Chris Stapleton – “Tennessee Whiskey” [Re-Enters]

I will miss seeing Jana in the Top 30. Especially since Jana really wants to see “Said No One Ever” be released. That’s a career killer. I am now really looking forward to the Jennifer Nettles review it’s off to a great start on radio and I really want to see that be a hit. Also I am so happy Maren Morris got OTV as she’s so talented and I am excited to see what the future holds for her. I am seeing Trace Adkins and Dierks Bentley new ones will probably enter which is a shame. On the bright side if Arista Nashville was smart they’d release Mayday from Cam. Also Tim McGraw is sending out Humble and Kind to radio as well so that’s actually really great. I also think Jake Owen will have a new song out soon which given the rather dismissal performance of Real Life I think he might deliver a decent song.

I wonder would Think Of You by Chris Young & Cassadee Pope would it be a 0 or a -1.

I noticed the high marks for “Lovin’ Lately” here, and have to admit though I initially was indifferent due to the production………….it has grown on me much more than most singles ever do because of the soaring melancholic swell to the melody.

It just clicked in a big way to me, and is that kind of theme most can relate to with some nuance to the composition. I also love that it hopscotches between major and minor chords.
